5th Grade graduation shirt for Westside Elementary (Cedar Park, TX)
The theme for graduation is based on Dr. Seuss's "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" book. The shirt design was a collaboration between myself and three other parents of the 5th grade class. I did all the design work using Adobe Photoshop, and exported to Adobe Illustrator for the print shop.

I modified an image from the book to resemble the school mascot - The Rockets - implementing the school colors of Green, Black, and silver, and replacing the hat on the child with a graduation cap. We were limited in the number of colors we could use on the shirts due to cost, so I stuck with green, white, and black. The image is transparent in the background to be printed on a light blue shirt, which would serve as the sky in the image. I replaced the hilltops in the original image with clouds, as well, since it's a rocket ship and not a hot air balloon.

In my original version, I thought we would add a quote from the book, but the committee decided it would be too cluttered so we removed it. We also discussed putting some information on the back of the shirts, such as a hashtag line, but ultimately the cost became too high, so we moved everything to the front.
Earlier drafts
These samples used a different font, alternate colors, and more of the original artwork. In the original image, the white space on the page is the cloud, but when cropped, it was much less obvious, so I later added clouds of my own to rebalance the image.
Font color choices
I put these samples forth to the committee to narrow down which font colors looked best. We also chose to make adjustments to the hashtag line in the final version.
